One thing that you must do, is ask for lots of water, not to annoy, to keep from dehydration, take a walk whenever you can down the isle.

Bon Voyage and Happy Holiday.

Isn't one of the Die Hard movies set on a plane too?

if you have a netbook/laptop, try playing heroes of might and magic III. it's one of my favourite games, and excellent time waster.

Katsumi, the second one has the hero's wife stuck on a plane.

BTW, if you want to shorten your flight, just start singing Weapon of Choice.

Don't forget about "Hero".

Oh, and watch all of the Final Destination. The plot might not make a lot of sense in the 3rd movie, but they are nice. And they'll turn you into a paranoic.

get a book on cd and some noise cancelling earphones. if the book sucks, you will just fall asleep. books are tough to read on planes because there might be light/noise problems like their usually are on planes

Read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown or any of them for that matter. Most of them are incredibly thought out and intriguing. Either that or play with a DS, but those games get old fast.

Draw up sketches of several scenarios which involve the plane crashing then call over the flight attendant and ask them which they think is more likely and which would make a better story on the news.

Claim there is a man on the wing, and go crazy, then shoot out the window with the air marshal's gun you had just taken, and fire at the man.

I find it funny, and partially disturbing how many people suggest a hostile take-over or pretending to make a hostile take-over, I think I'll get an audio book or two and stick with that.

Do what I suggested, it will make you famous.

Caution: Strange other worldly creatures may grab your face with their slimy hands, and terrify you for the rest of your life.

depends on a few things.....some of the newer planes (747-???) now have game consols in the seats so you can play hours of games or watch movies etc .....the older planes (and the stupid american airlines---eg United I am talking about you) dont. In that case I usually try to find a series of books that I have yet to read (the newest dune series rings a bell...dang the guy died and the series goes on)....or if you have a portable dvd player (that you wish to get hassled about and bring along with you) a series of movies that I like (the lotr is a nice long set and a good watch for a long plane ride).

Since I have done the japan-usa trip (thats 10 hours one way...13 the other---on lots of occasions over the last 7 years)...I understand about wanting to have something other than sleep to occupy your time (and if you are as unlucky as I am ----your seating assignment leaves you little room to get comfy and the screeeeeemmming baby wont allow sleep)....good luck with it!

That reminded me of a scene in Johnny Bravo where he saw a clown on the wing of a plane he was riding. God knows how I remember anything from back then though. Timeless.

Funny, it reminded me of the Twilight Zone episode Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.

Same here. Although the clown was there. IT WAS THE CLOWN!

Also, you can cut yourself with a paper and run around the board screaming "I HAVE HEMOPHILIA!!!".

And to all saying "oh I've traveled 10 hours non-stop" - big thing. When I travel across Europe, I get up at 5-7 and we (me as the only English/German/Spanish speaking person + my parents) try to find a hotel/motel around 22-23. That's over 15-16 hours of driving. DRIVING. So it's usually much hotter than on an airplane...
